The HVI light Conductor can also be installed without connection to the equipotential bonding system of a building at the end of an adjustment range.

The HVI light Conductor supplements the proven HVI Conductor. Due to the defined coupling point, e.g. at the tripod, an equipotential bonding (functional earth conductor) is not necessary. Thus installation is easier and considerably time-saving.

The roof area of buildings often is used as an installation level for pipings, electrical and information technical systems or photovoltaic installations, regardless of the potential risk of lightning strikes. As all of these systems provide a conductive connection into the building it is also possible that lightning partial currents are conducted into the building, where any sensitive electrical/electronic equipment can be interferred or even damaged. Such spreading of lightning partial currents into a building is avoided by an isolated air-termination system.

HVI light Conductor keeps the separation distance on flat roofs. Uncontrolled flashover e.g. through the roofing to metal or electrical parts underneath will be prevented by the high-voltage resistant insulation of the HVI light conductor.

High-voltage-resistant insulated HVI light Conductor for keeping the separation distance from electrically conductive parts according to IEC/EN 62305-3.
For use up to an equivalent separation distance s ≤ 45 cm (in air), or s ≤ 90 cm (solid building material).
The HVI light Conductor meets the requirements according to EN 50164-2.

Processing temperature -5 bis +40 °C and permanent temperature range (in case of fixed installation) of -30 to +70 °C to be observed.

System for maintaining the separation distance e.g. on flat roofs. The high-voltage-resistant, insulated HVI light Conductor prevents uncontrolled flashover to metal or electric components underneath the roofing.

For use up to an equivalent seaparation distance s ≤ 45 cm (in air) or s ≤ 90 cm (solid material).

The special design of the cable shears also allows for a precise cutting of stranded conductors for attaching the connection elements easily.

Connection of the HVI light Conductor to an existing lightning protection system. The equivalent separation distance s at the connection point of the HVI light Conductor is ≤ 45 cm (in air).
In the connection area an adjustment range around the HVI light Conductor has to be provided. No electrical, conductive or earthed parts may be installed in this area. This is necessary for coupling the lightning current safely into the conductor. An equipotential bonding connection is not necessary.

If several plant components require protection, it is advisable not to route the HVI light Conductor of each air-termination system individually to the earth-termination system. The HVI light Conductors from the air-termination system can be connected to an "isolated ring conductor". From this "isolated ring conductor" several down conductors, HVI light Conductors, can then be led to the earth-termination system. Allowing for the calculated separation distance "s", the "isolated ring conductor" must be installed, e.g. on the roof, on spacers and concrete bases.

The HVI Conductors from the air-termination system can be connected to the capping of a roof parapet which serves as "isolated ring conductor". From this capping of the roof parapet several down conductors, HVI light Conductors, can then be led to the earth-termination system.
